My Working Background & Travel Experience
Nursing Background
My journey in nursing has spanned over two decades, taking me through a range of specialties including respiratory care, chronic conditions, rehabilitation, mental health & palliative care. Please do not ask me to chose my favourite- it would be impossible!
Working across different healthcare systems in the UK & internationally has given me a unique perspective, that goes beyond clinical knowledge to truly understanding people, their needs & the complexities of care.
Travel Experience
My background in travel is both professional & personal.
Throughout my 20s & 30s, driven by a strong sense of curiosity, I travelled extensively across Southeast Asia, South America & Africa. Before training as a nurse, I worked in the travel industry across marketing, hospitality & tour leading—even spending time as a vigneron.
Having lived in Australia & the United States, I have developed strong, practical ground knowledge of these destinations, including their healthcare systems, travel infrastructure & regional considerations.
These experiences have shaped my practical understanding of diverse travel environments, health risks, cultural considerations & the realities of planning & navigating journeys.
The Here & Now
Alongside leading Journeys For Health, I continue to practice part-time as a Registered Nurse, maintaining active clinical responsibilities & undertaking ongoing professional development to ensure my knowledge remains current & evidence-based.
I am a member of the British Global & Travel Health Association, supporting my commitment to delivering guidance aligned with current global health trends & emerging travel risks.
Travel remains central to my perspective, providing ongoing insight into real-world travel logistics, cultural contexts & evolving global health landscapes.
